Hello 30's...Yikes!!

Yes I am the BIG 3-0HHH!! I can't believe I am no longer in my 20's...they were a great 10 years!! My 20's were filled with college, dating, friends, wild nights, young love, jet-setting, meeting the man of my dreams, getting married, first house, and the begininng of motherhood! I will cherish my 20's forever...they were very good to me. I will miss them but am looking forward to my 30's and what these next 10 years will bring me and my beautiful family! This is a big year for me as I enter a new decade and prepare to welcome our second child...Landon Ross Hampshire due July 15th. It was a very special weekend for me as we celebrated Landon at my baby shower and then partied it up that night to celebrate my birthday! My dad flew in from Charlotte and I had 20+ friends and family join us for dinner at Sambuca's. It was a fun night...despite being 7.5 months pregnant and the only sober one.

Trip to the ER

So we had a very eventful day yesterday....a 7 hour trip to the ER!! Ava and I were hanging out Wednesday morning watching Elmo and eating cereal. She decided to get out of bed with me and go into our bathroom and play with the water. I was sending a few work emails on my phone and before I knew it she came walking out of the bathroom with a bottle of benadryl that was completely EMPTY!! I jumped out of bed with utter panic and searched the bathroom...did she pour it on the floor? Did she pour it down the sink or the toilet? No to all of these questions that ran through my mind in .5 seconds...I asked her..."Ava where is the medicine?" She opened her mouth and said mama...her mouth was completely red and at this moment I knew she had drank the entire bottle!!
(side note...I have been taking a little benadryl when I feel sick because it helps with the nausea..yes 7.5 months pregnant and I still feel nauseas at times. I had purchased a new bottle just the day before which I had taken about 2 tsp. of and passed out within 30 minutes. The next morning Tyler put it on a tall chest we have in our bathroom which Ava can not reach....well we thought! She had brought her little baby stroller in the bathroom and climbed up and got the bottle.)
So...I ran to the phone and called her Dr. and they said take her to the ER now!! I jumped in the car with Ava and rushed up to Baylor in Plano...2 minutes from our house. We were checked in and in our room a little before 8:30. I was a mess...crying and so afraid that Ava was going to go into a coma or something....well for those of you that know Ava...the benadryl did not phase her one bit....Dr.'s and nurses could not believe that she was not passed out!! I was so afraid of what they were going to have to do to my poor little girl. They decided to not pump her stomach and try to get her to drink a cup of charcoal. I told them they were crazy and she was not going to drink this...I asked "What are our other options?" They said if she did not drink the charcoal (which by the way the charcoal absorbs the medicine) that they were going to have to tie her down and put tubes down her nose into her stomach to either pump it or pump the charcoal down into her stomach....I was completely terrified. The nurses were great and tried tons of alternatives to get her to ingest this nasty charcoal liquid. They brought a cup of ice cream that we covered with the charcoal to look like syrup (Ava is no dummy...she knew) but she did eat about 5 spoonfuls of it...then we mixed it with sprite which she drank some of and a few other things.

They then made us stay there for 6 hours to monitor her. I about died when they said I had to stay in this little room with her for another 6 hours!! She did not sleep the entire time but instead had about 5 meltdowns...one of which lasted about an hour...I thought I was going to go into labor due to all the stress!! Needless to say our Texas Tornado is absolutely FINE!!! Me on the other hand probably got about 5 grey hairs and feel like I have been run over by a bus!

BABY SHOWER #2

Kellie, Suzanne and Lindsey hosted a beautiful baby shower for me on Saturday May 15th at Suzanne's house in honor of Landon Ross Hampshire. It was absolutely perfect and I could not ask for better friends! I truly feel blessed to be surrounded by such amazing friends and family that care so much about me. I had such a great time spending an afternoon with all the amazing women that were there. It was kind of weird with all the blue...as I am so use to pink and girly things! It is going to be an adjustment having another boy in the house! We are just so excited to meet the little guy and have him home all snuggled up with us. Thank you ladies for everything and for being such important people in my life. I have to give a special thanks to my mom as well for being "super mom" and traveling all night and morning from a business trip in Las Vegas just to make it to the shower. I love you very much and hope I am as good of a mom to Ava and Landon as you are to me!

We had to taste each jar of baby food and guess what it was...I feel bad for our babies now that they have to eat some of this stuff...no wonder they spit it out so much!!

Catching Up!

Over the last few weeks we have been pretty busy preparing the house and ourselves for our new arrival who should be here in about 9 weeks. We are so excited and just trying to get everything in order before his arrival...I like to have everything...well lets just say organized. I finally have all of Ava's bedding here and we are just waiting on her bed to arrive, I picked out Landon's fabric and Tyler's mom is in the process of making his bedding (so excited). We are still working on the potty training thing with Ava (she is using it everyday for both #1 and #2 just not every time)..hey I can't complain I think she is doing GREAT! Ava's talking up a storm and is shocking us with her early morning surprises these days. Every morning she walks into our bedroom between 6:30 and 7 AM!! Keep in mind we have lowered her mattress to the floor, put her back in a sleep sack and we are all out of ideas to keep her in her crib. To most parents this may be normal getting up this early...for us it is NOT! Ava has always gone to bed between 8:30-9 and wakes up around 9 AM. So we are slowly adjusting to these early mornings. I guess she is preparing us for the total lack of sleep we are about to have again. I am feeling much better these days after throwing up for the first 6 months of this pregnancy. Tyler and I are trying to get together with friends as much as possible before we enter the whole newborn phase again. Ava and I have been getting together with all her friends and my fun mommy friends as often as we can before I am afraid to leave the house with TWO!!
